Road Safety Trainer

Are you passionate about road safety? Are you a keen cyclist? Would you enjoy passing on your knowledge to others? Are you looking for flexible mainly term time work? Somerset Road Safety have vacancies for new team members to cover Taunton, Ilminster, Chard, Yeovil, South Petherton, and Crewkerne areas.

Your main responsibilities would be:

  • To teach and assess safer cycling techniques using the Bikeability scheme, and practical pedestrian skills according to the Highway Code and other safety guides.
  • To liaise with schools to promote road safety and arrange training courses.
  • To train, supervise and support volunteers and school staff to provide road safety training in Somerset.
  • To identify training routes for cycle and pedestrian training.
  • To train, assess, support and provide advice for School Crossing Patrols.

You would be working an average of 2 days per week as part of a team of 17 peripatetic road safety trainers within the wider Road Safety team of 26. Full training and continuous professional development will be provided for the right candidates.
